Right to Life of Central California worked to establish a subsidiary nonprofit corporation, the Obria Medical Clinics of Central California. This clinic will be a prenatal healthcare clinic oriented towards lower-income women throughout the San Joaquin Valley.
This clinic will meet a huge public health need in the San Joaquin Valley, as well as address one of the key factors that lead women to choose abortion: a lack of access to quality prenatal healthcare. The San Joaquin Valley has a critical lack of federally qualified and prenatal healthcare clinics to provide basic prenatal care to women in our disproportionately poor population. Obria is looking to fill that gap with a full range of prenatal healthcare: ultrasounds, pregnancy testing, STD/STI testing, cancer screenings, well-woman exams, hormonal health treatment, and more.
Obria will also accept most insurances, including Medi-Cal and Covered California plans. No patient will be refused treatment for lack of coverage or inability to pay.
Patients will also be able to access healthcare resources through Obria’s online telemedicine service, which will be staffed 24/7 by California Obria nurses. Telemedicine–online communication with medical providers over privacy-secured networks–is fast becoming the chief means for young people to send and receive healthcare information.
