Our Legacy of Support

Marianne Cameron Angelillo

We at Right to Life of Central California wish to honor the legacy of one of our most beloved, foundational supporters, Marianne Angelillo, who passed away on January 29, 2025. Words cannot adequately express our grief for the sudden death of our dear friend, who was a pillar of our organization for so many years.

Marianne is survived by the love of her life, Neil, and the lights of her life, her sons Zachary and Mark. She is also survived by her parents Mark and Janet Cameron, and her sister and brothers, Suzanne Orlando (Dino), Paul (Lisa), Andrew (Patricia), Mark (Tracey), sister-in-law Nina Angelillo-Marra (Sam), brother-in-law Marc Angelillo (Kim), and many nieces, nephews, great niece, and great nephew.

Marianne attended Our Lady of Victory Elementary School and San Joaquin Memorial High School, where lifelong friendships were made. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of San Francisco after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology-Zoology from California State University, Fresno. Marianne proceeded to work as a registered nurse for over 20 years. She was a natural caregiver and spent her life in the service of others. She also embraced life with open arms, carried a smile and a contagious laugh wherever she went, provided endless energy and joy for life for all those around her, and had an innate ability to make sure no one ever felt alone or unheard.

Marianne was a true leader and mainstay to Right to Life, serving us in so many different capacities. She was at various times a donor, volunteer, board member, and even served as an interim executive director. She helped navigate our organization to growth and success through so many challenges. On multiple occasions, she served as the chair of our Christmas Dinner and Auction, and brought in dozens of supporters to Right to Life through her warmth and kindness. She was always there for us, in any need. Marianne’s work on behalf of Right to Life carried on the legacy of her parents, Mark and Janet Cameron, and of her beloved aunt and uncle Dottie and Howard DeMera. The Camerons and DeMeras were some of the “founding families” of Right to Life. Marianne attended Right to Life events from the time she was a child, and was a true standard bearer for our cause within the succeeding generation of our supporters.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Right to Life of Central California, Catholic Charities, and San Joaquin Memorial High School.

Chuck and Jo Ann Stephens' legacy lives on through the Golf for Life Tournament

Chuck and Jo Ann Stephens

Chuck and JoAnn Stephens profoundly shaped Right to Life of Central California (RLCC), building a lasting pro-life legacy until Chuck’s passing reunited him with JoAnn. In the 1980s and 1990s, they transformed RLCC’s Christmas Auction from a small gathering into an event hosting 1,000 guests annually, a cornerstone fundraiser still thriving today. Their vision mobilized entire families, including their own, to volunteer, embedding a culture of service within RLCC that endures through their children and subsequent generations. The Golf for Life Tournament, launched by Chuck over 25 years ago, further bolstered RLCC’s efforts, with proceeds now supporting many Right to Life initiatives while JoAnn’s famous cream cheese pies, continued by daughters Diane Mazzoni, Cathy Horn, and Crissy Winslow, symbolize their personal touch.

Their impact deepened RLCC’s mission through innovative advocacy, notably by introducing Natural Family Planning (NFP) to the Central Valley. After training at Creighton Medical School and earning certification, they taught classes and counseled couples, establishing RLCC as a pioneer in pro-life education and services. JoAnn’s outreach to OB/GYNs created a referral network, amplifying RLCC’s reach, while their efforts seeded NFP clinics and supported Obria’s founding. Chuck and JoAnn’s faith-fueled dedication strengthened RLCC’s fight against abortion, leaving an organizational legacy of resilience and community that continues to honor them.

Debby Bone's legacy lives on through the 300 Club

Debby Bone

Many of you knew our beloved former board member, employee, and supporter, Debby Bone, who passed away in October 2020. Not only was Debby a staunch supporter of Right to Life, but she also founded the 300 Club. Debby believed that there is widespread support for the Pro-Life movement in California and that through grassroots efforts, we can save babies! She also knew that not everyone is able to contribute large donations, but if each person gave $25 a month or any amount they are comfortable with, then together, we can continue the fight for life. Debby knew with your support, we could continue to carry out our mission of Engaging, Equipping, and Embracing our community. Thank you all!

Betsy Lucido

Bill Lucido met Betsy Tripp in the fall of 1961 at the University of San Diego. They had their first date on October 14th of that year, and were married almost three years later on June 6, 1964. During their 48 years of marriage they have been blessed with four daughters, three sons-in-law, nine grandchildren and many dear friends. They have been active members at Saint Paul Catholic Newman Center for over 42 years where Bill now serves as a Deacon. Betsy is a Eucharistic Minister at Newman Center and very active in the activities of parish life.

The entire Lucido family has been active in pro-life causes. While their four daughters were still living at home, the family welcomed 28 unwed mothers into their home through Infant of Prague Adoption agency. They provided a safe, warm and comforting environment to these young ladies during their pregnancies, offering guidance, support and friendship. Most of the babies born to these young ladies were placed for adoption.

For seven and a half years Bill and Betsy went through diaconal formation, and on January 15, 2010, with Betsy at his side, Bill was ordained a Roman Catholic Deacon by Cardinal Roger Mahony. Family has always been important to Bill and Betsy, and their loving home is always open to friend and stranger alike.

On behalf of the entire staff, board, and the volunteers of Right to Life of Central California, we salute Deacon Bill and Betsy Lucido for a lifetime of selfless service and dedication.
