7 Things You Can Do About The #PPSellsBabyParts Video

(This post was originally published on July 23, 2015. Since that time, 8 other videos have been released, to watch all the videos please CLICK HERE).

Most Americans have by now seen at least one of the two undercover videos produced by the “Center for Medical Progress”. The footage shows Planned Parenthood Senior staff members explaining and negotiating the sale of aborted baby body parts to individuals posing as purchasers from Stem Express. The response to these videos has been shock and horror. It can feel very overwhelming.

How can a pro-life advocate take a stand for life in the midst of such gruesome disregard for the dignity of human life?

Here is a brief summary of what Planned Parenthood is facing and 7 things you can do right here in Central California.

(If you haven’t watched them yet, I encourage you to click on the videos embedded below, be warned the footage is disturbing and the conversations are graphic.)

What you need to know

Planned Parenthood profits from the “Donation” of tissues and organs.

By their own admission, We know that Planned Parenthood collects tissue and organs from abortion procedures with a signed consent form from the mother and “donates” it to organizations like Stem Express for compensation. It is illegal to sell human tissue or organs for profit and the videos make a case for Planned Parenthood doing just that, negotiating prices for the sale of individual livers, hearts and lungs. Even if, after investigation, it appears they are not acting illegally, former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson explains to the Washington Times in THIS Article there is a legal loophole that allows Planned Parenthood to “Legally” profit from tissue “donations”.

While Planned Parenthood argues that prices discussed in the videos are merely fees to cover overhead of tissue donations, the organization has a history of lying to women about the abortion procedure and committing illegal activity, such as not reporting sexual abuse against minors.  The real question we need to be asking is “Does it matter whether the compensation received by Planned Parenthood is profit from a sale or profit from a donation?” Is it not still upsetting that the body parts of innocent children are harvested and used for research?

Planned Parenthood Alters the Abortion procedure to ensure they obtain intact “Specimens”

In both videos there is an admission that Planned Parenthood has, or is willing to, alter the abortion procedure in order to obtain desired “specimens”.  Federal regulations require that “no alteration of the timing, method, or procedures used to terminate the pregnancy was made solely for the purpose of obtaining the tissue.” Planned Parenthood’s own consent forms for the Doctor and Patient indicate the same. You can see the actual form used at Fresno’s Planned Parenthood (part of the Mar Monte Group) and read an excellent summary in THIS article from thefederalist.com. If Planned Parenthood does not “profit” from “selling” body parts, why are they willing to alter their abortion procedures to obtain specimens? If your purpose is to help women (not profit from abortions/tissue harvesting) why would you alter medical procedures? Planned Parenthood has yet to respond to these allegations.

What can I do here in Central California?

1. Create Common Ground by Asking Good Questions:

Use questions in your conversations with friends and family. Why does the Planned Parenthood scandal bother you? Why do we have laws preventing profit from sale of human remains? Do you think abortions should be legal when the unborn can feel pain? When does a human being become valuable and worth protecting? These types of questions can help your conversation focus on the Main point.

It is undisputed that Planned Parenthood kills and dismembers babies in their mother’s womb.

The horrible death of those children should bother people more than what happens to their bodies afterwards.

2. Attend a Justice for All Training Seminar:

Turn a debate about abortion into a dialogue by attending one of Right to Life’s training seminars. You will learn effective conversational and intellectual tools to engage pro-choice ideas while presenting the pro-life message with compassion and conviction. Our next FREE seminars are scheduled for Thursday, August 27th and Saturday, August 29th.

3. Stand on the Front Lines in Prayer:

Right to Life’s 40 Days for Life campaign begins on September 23rd. But you can begin now! We currently have prayer warriors and Sidewalk Counselors in front of Fresno’s Planned Parenthood from 8am-5pm on Wednesdays and the 1st tuesday of every month from 8-12pm. And we are looking to expand! Contact Marcos@rtlcc.org for more information or when we need the most volunteers.

4. Become a Sidewalk Counselor

Right to Life offers a Sidewalk Counselor training program throughout the year, whenever anyone is interested in attending. Contact Marcos@rtlcc.org to learn to save lives by offering life-affirming options with compassion to women facing unplanned pregnancies.

5. Call Your Representatives:

Planned Parenthood receives over 500 MILLION of YOUR tax dollars. Now is the time to let Washington know an organization that kills babies, lies to women, and is currently under investigation for breaking federal laws does not deserve our tax dollars. Demand that they raise their own funds on an equal playing field with pro-life organizations and pregnancy centers. Don’t know your representatives? CLICK HERE to find them.

6. Vote Pro-Life:supreme3

Stand in your convictions and take them to the polls! We are entering an election cycle that has the potential to create a culture of life or a culture of death. Demand that the weakest among us are recognized as valuable and protected human beings and end our government’s endorsement of abortion through Planned Parenthood.

7. Sign the Petition.

The easiest 1 minute of your day! Join with over 100,000 Americans who have signed the petition to Defund Planned Parenthood at www.plannedparenthoodexposed.com. You have no excuse not to. It’s that easy.

Sex Selective Abortion in the US

When it comes to sex selection and gendercide, many people in the United States think of China, India, and other cultures known to prefer boys over girls. Studies show however that this unethical, oppressive and horrific practice is happening right here in our own backyard and the ripple effect is destroying girls, and by doing so increasing the practice of sex trafficking and gender based violence. Sex-selective abortion is defined as “an abortion undertaken for the purpose of eliminating a child of an undesired sex.” A Nobel Prize-winning economist and Harvard Professor; Amartya Sen has previously estimated that as early as 1990 ; 100 million girls were missing worldwide due to sex-selective abortion, female infanticide, and other such gender-biased practices. With the current advancements in assisted reproductive technology prenatal sex selection is becoming more common than ever before, and while the practice is still somewhat controversial in the medical community and very costly many women in America are employing these new and available sex-selective techniques in their reproductive decisions.

Some women use the technology during the process of IVF, in a mis-guided effort to prevent illness to a potential daughter. Women who are genetic carriers of certain diseases and genetic mutations that may only be passed down genetically to female offspring; choose to have only sons in an effort to spare the child any significant health concerns. We as pro-life advocates however know that while many women truly believe they are doing this with no ill intent it is still a horrific violation of not only human rights but gender equality as well. The ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine) even discourages any PGD{prenatal genetic diagnosis} for non-medical sex selection being used because it creates an incredibly complicated ethical dilemma amongst medical providers, an imbalance in the sex ratio within a given society and poses unnecessary and serious medical risks to patients undergoing treatment for non-medically specified ART. Even one of the biggest supporters of abortion rights in the US, the ACOG {The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists} spoke out publicly in 2007 against sex-selection for family planning purposes [sex-selective abortion practices] “The Committee concludes that the ethical objection to sex selection based solely on family balancing or personal preference holds, regardless of the timing of the selection (i.e., preconception or post conception) or the stage of development of the embryo or fetus, because such requests may ultimately support sexist practices.”

Sex-selective abortion however represents one of the most violent forms of discrimination against women today. Through this horrific practice, self-selective abortion is victimizing two women at one time: mother and daughter. Many women are forced or coerced into having sex-selective abortions, and their daughters suffer the fatal consequences. When pro-life advocates attempted to pass PRENDA (Prenatal Non Discrimation Act) a law that would have banned the abortion of babies solely because they were girls, pro-choice activists managed to kill the bill. The pro-abortion community went absolutely nuts trying to defend the horrific practice of sex selective abortions; including the President of the largest abortion provider in the US; Planned Parenthood. Numerous times Cecile Richards has made empty statements regarding her and PP “opposition to sex-selective abortions” YET in multiple undercover operations performed at Planned Parenthood Clinics across the country; one of the largest investigative pro-life organizations; Live Action obtained video footage of not only counselors at clinics endorsing this practice, but also footage of these counselors teaching women how to de-fraud insurance companies into getting elective ultrasounds for the sole purpose of sex determination with the intent of terminating the pregnancy if tests confirm the unborn child is a girl. In an attempt to pass PRENDA; pro-life legislators highlighted no fewer than six studies that shows sex selective abortions are taking place in the United States in abortion clinics throughout the country. Planned Parenthood opposes laws that would allow a woman the chance to see her baby on the ultrasound screen before an abortion.

Former Planned Parenthood workers have stated that they were regularly instructed to turn the ultrasound screen away from abortion patients and encourage them not to look at images of their unborn child for fear that the mother may be “dissuaded against moving forward with the termination”. YET when commenting on the morality of using ultrasound pictures to determine whether an unborn baby is a girl or boy in order to abort based on her gender, a Planned Parenthood Director in Lancaster County, PA said “The information about a woman’s pregnancy has to be made available to her. We can’t legislate what a man or a woman will do with medical information. Physicians with problems with the way a patient will use information they give them should let the patient know so they can go elsewhere”. Planned Parenthood continuously OPPOSES women’s access to ultrasound technology if it means she may be dissuaded from abortion, but SUPPORTS the use of ultrasound technology if its purpose is to determine whether a baby should be aborted. This blatant pro-abortion bias truly shows where Planned Parenthood’s priorities lie. This incredible bias and hypocrisy is even further perpetuated by Cecile Richards who this weekend took to Twitter in support of International Women’s Day with this tweet https://twitter.com/CecileRichards/status/574681402836389890

Although studies have shown that 9 out of 10 Americans oppose sex-selective abortions, abortions based on gender are neither illegal nor uncommon in our country. In fact; almost every time a potential bill has been passed an effort to permanently ban sex-selective abortions the pro-abortion community has meticulously lobbied against it and while other industrialized countries have either restrictions or a ban on sex-selection, the United States does not – despite our continuous condemnation of other countries that permit the abhorrent practice. It is time that we as pro-life women stand up for our unborn daughters and turn the hypocritical words of Cecile Richards into words of ACTION within the pro-life community; ”Working toward gender equality and human rights for ALL.”

  African American Wigs UK

Pencils, Prisons and Planned Parenthood

When most people speak of Black History Month they speak of the Civil Rights Movements of Martin Luther King Jr, Harriet Tubman or Rosa Parks. They reference the “lunch counter sit-ins” and Hollywood spends millions on movies referencing the movements that helped further the state of African-Americans in our society. These are important and crucial moments in history that should not be devalued or “watered down”. There is one issue however that has continually affected the black community since the early 1960’s yet has been one which has been consistently ignored; Abortion in Black America. What is most important to understand is; not only is the discussion about abortion within the black community necessary, it is vital to understanding the epidemic that is happening within this community.

I recently watched a documentary called “Commonwealth”. The basis of this program was to bring awareness to what is currently happening within the Philadelphia Public School System. There is a lot of social science that goes into understanding what is happening there and I have been following this closely as an Educator but one of the things I found the most interesting was the fact that so many parents interviewed seemed to be blindsided by the rampant school closures happening in their community whereas the teachers could tell you that they saw it coming for years. The cutbacks on supplies, the teacher shortages, the buildings that were unsafe and went without repair, the signs were all there and the watchful ones knew something was coming. This is similar to the pro-life community which for decades has been calling attention to the strategic and systemic killing of black children. We’ve watched the abortion mills being built in the poor communities where disadvantaged families are a prime target for “big abortion”. So where are all these schools that are closing you ask? 93% of the schools that will be closed by the end of 2015 are in low-income areas of Philadelphia, where more than 83% of students are black and live at or below the poverty line. Did I also mention that while they are closing these schools in “a coordinated effort to save the state nearly $304 million” the state is spending over $400 million building a “super-prison”…it doesn’t take a PhD to figure out what’s happening here. This is the definition of “school to prison pipeline”. By closing public schools in low-income or disadvantaged neighborhoods we are pushing children out of the education system and into the corrections system.  For decades research has proven that a lack of access to adequate education is a key factor in determining whether or not a child in a disadvantaged community will become an offender or not; yet throughout the country in urban areas of large metropolitan cities public schools are closing or deteriorating at a rapid rate while prison expansions are doubling. What does this have to do with abortion you ask? Everything; and here’s why. By removing access to education services we are showing these children and their families that we do not value the priority of their potential in the same way we value children from wealthy families or communities. Pulling access to these services restricts parents, particularly single mothers from having resources and options available to them. In public schools where resources are available for teen mothers those girls were more likely to not only finish high school and earn their diploma but to go on to attend college or vocational programs following high school. Without availability of these programs teens facing an unplanned pregnancy are more likely to turn to abortion.

The pro-life community has continually provided evidence about Planned Parenthood’s strategic placement of abortion clinics within low-income/disadvantaged areas. These neighborhoods are being targeted for extermination and where Planned Parenthood fails, the state has no problem stepping in to pick up the slack by closing schools and funneling the children from these communities into the juvenile justice system.  It is almost like the message being sent is “If we can’t kill them, we’ll lock them up” That may seem like a shocking statement to some but as we all know; money is what it all boils down to in the end. The methodical placement of massive abortion mills in disenfranchised communities and low income neighborhoods is reaffirming that the voices and the lives of the disadvantaged do not matter. There is no “choice” for these women because they are continually forced into thinking abortion is their ONLY choice. Money talks and the more “services” that Planned Parenthood can claim to offer {outside abortion} guarantees a continuing funnel of taxpayer dollars to flood their organization. Money earned through the degradation of the black community, soaked in the blood of the innocent black lives lost. What I ask you does this show about the environment that WE as a society have created for these communities. We strip public schools of funding, close them down and take away options for educational growth, we de-value these marginalized communities to the point where the options become PRISON or Planned Parenthood. We hold the members of the community accountable yet take away the majority of their resources. We hold fathers accountable for not being present in their child’s lives yet we devalue their position within the family by denying their paternal rights. We expect so much of them and yet give them so little. How can a person know their true value when the value of their life has been stripped away?  The media is right though, abortion is not Black History, it is Black Present and until we stand up to fight for TRULY equal protection for these devalued families the degradation of a race will continue until Black History Month is all that will be left for African Americans in modern society.

“When we said we would no longer sit in the back of the bus; a place was reserved for us down at the abortion clinic.”-Dr. Alveda King
